The band and I are really looking forward to this show, as we get to play alongside three excellent bands with live original British Country music top of the agenda.
Late start at studio today so have the morning off, but end up working on computer catching up with e-mails etc!!!
Yes I'm sure the day will be thoroughly enjoyed by those attending, I know there is a solo singer/songwriter on the bill but don't know anything else about him although I'm sure he will be very good.
Hopefully have some news soon on new album release date
Sorry Judy I misread what you had written I thought you meant the event had not been mentioned. We all know that rumours do tend to start circulating near the time of the events, so we thought we'd nip it in the bud before it happened.
We did have a few problems with promotion of the event, but most of the clubs have really supported us. Thanks anyway _________________ Chew Valley Country Music Club
TJ is going to be on the TV tonight talking about the event, got asked to do a very quick interview for Channel M, its only local but every bit helps.
It will be broadcast tonight around 6.50 and again in the morning. Then on the weekend whats on.
He's just rung me and said dont blink or you will miss it lol _________________ Chew Valley Country Music
Your right Dunc it' come round really quick, TJ got his two mins on the TV tonight just long enough to mention the bands and the event. So thanks to Channel M only local but a mention.
Things are slotting together although I am sure there will be things we forget or do wrong, so hopefully people will be kind to us.
See you Saturday how's about a bacon butty before we start _________________ Chew Valley Country Music
Looking forward to seeing good friends (and hopefully making some new ones) tomorrow at this event. Five live acts playing original BritCountry. For anyone out there thinking about supporting this venture, please do so, you won't spend a better 15 quid this year!
Hi Brian
A bit shattered now but will recharge for tomorrow, cant wait now but my list of jobs keep getting bigger. My house looks like a cross between a cafe and on office so you may need to keep your eyes shut when you come back tomorrow night.
The caravan is aired and ready and the beer is in the fridge, you got the best sleeping arrangements poor Raising Cain have to sleep in the house and share with the dogs and the cat. Last time George said the cat stared at them all night. Your CD is getting loads of airplay on our local radio, and we did a comp for free tickets and the DJ said they got loads of calls.
Phone has been busy yesterday and today and the hall is looking great, we have tablecothes and would you believe it they are putting candles on on the tables too. Just one problem with that I have never danced on a table with a cloth on before I may get my heels stuck.
See you tomorrow and looking forward to meeting your lad
Drive safe take care

After the long trip home, I now have the chance to sit down and leave a comment on what was a first class weekend of live British country music.
Lynne and Trevor worked tirelessly to ensure their 'Celebration of British Country Music' event was such a success, and their faith in homegrown talent playing original, live music was rewarded with a fantastic turnout.
In a time where apathy towards anything outwith 'the norm' is so apparent within the majority of the UK scene, it was a pleasure to be invited to perform at this event, run by two people with the courage of their convictions to promote such a show, and all that comes with it relative thereto.
Of course they are not alone. Thankfully there are several men and women out there who 'put their money where their mouth is' and whom without their support and encouragement, I doubt if I would have continued with the live side of my music, I wouldn't dream of listing those I refer to, however they know who they are, and I thank you all for what you do, whether it be press, promoter, radio or listener.
This weekend, I had the privilege of sharing the bill with three excellent bands, each unique in their own way, and as we were staying for the entire day had the chance to catch each show.
Settlers Creek are the warmest, most generous guys you could hope to meet, and sometimes their personalities detract the attention from how good a live act they are, and with their own material finding a place in the set, get better each time I see them.
Buchanan I had never seen before however had heard great things of. I thought their show was first class with superb performances from each of the band members playing almost entirely their own material which was a joy to listen to. Very impressed guys.
Raising Cain do what it says on the tin! they play exceptionally good country rock, and they too are introducing more original material into their set. They closed the show to a rousing ovation and rightly so.
So, please don't tell me there is little or no homegrown talent in this country scene of ours, and that is the whole point, it is OUR scene, the musos, the promoters, the audience, etc, and it is in our hands where it goes, however as long as we have good people like Lynne and Trevor doing all they can to 'keep the ride on track', there is hope. I believe that.
Finally on behalf of Brian Hughes and the LoneSharks, can I thank both of them and their sons and families for the generous hospitality shown to us. As always, we very much appreciate it.

Not been on this forum for a long time - but I just thought I should add my comments to those made by Brian Hughes (my new best mate!) above.
The event was an absolute success. Buchanan have had lots of emails from peole telling us how much they enjoyed it.
Meeting up with Brian and his band, Dunc and co from Settlers and the lads from Raising Cain was a real blast.
Here's hoping that the positives can be built upon and we can make a concerted effort to move the scene forwards instead of standing still.
I feel very positive about Country music in the UK after Saturday!
Take care and see you all down the line!
