There’s an elephant on my legs

There’s an elephant on my legs
And it’s taken all the pain
That I really should be feeling
Pushed it to the ceiling that is my spine above

There’s an elephant on my spine
And I’m sure that I’ll be fine
If only it would mime
A little butterfly

There’s an elephant on my legs
And I’m sure that if it knew
How much pain I’m going through
It would heave a little sigh

For though it’s sitting there
Feeling oh so very sure
That it really doesn’t care
If it wants to move so far

There’s an elephant on my head
And it’s crushing all the feeling
That, I’m sure my brain is reeling
From the pain I know I’m feeling

There’s an elephant on my legs
And my spine and on my head
I am sure that if it could
Understand me, that it would
Remove itself for good

Imaginary Friends

Inspired by a comment made by the wife of one of my 'Imaginary' friends on another forum

Dear Renee, I sure do pray
That we will get to meet someday
So I can try to help you see
How much imaginary friends mean to me

They pick me up when I am down
When I feel blue they act the clown
When prayers are needed then they pray
but most of all they make my day

For though I only get to see
the pictures that they show to me
the words they write open up my mind
To friends that allways bring a smile

So though we only meet this way
And hope that maybe some fine day
Our paths will cross along the way
We know that lifelong friends we'll stay

If I Could

Dedicated to all my friends

I would take the soft fresh rain to wash your tears away
And ask the summer sun to warm away your pain
I’d ask the gentle breeze to smooth your furrowed brow
And say a tender prayer, so he can show me how
My thoughts and words and deed could fill your life with ease
If it would help you know, I‘d get down on my knees
To show how much I love all my friends in need

I know we live a thousand miles or so apart
But let me tell you how your words have made me start
To realise how much a friend like you can mean
Although we only see each other almost in a dream
We have to let imagination take us from this plane
So we can get to know each other, in a special way
Until the time that we can meet on that one fine day
