I just watched the film "Bad Timing" and I also was impressed with the song, "Dreaming My Dreams." However, the blog notes you received are not correct. Tom Waits performs the opening song, but the song you are interested in is revealed in the credits at the end of the film as being, Billy Kinsley...composer and performer. So, here is a quick summary of who he is from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Kinsley:
Billy Kinsley (born William Ellis Kinsley, 28 November 1946, Anfield, Liverpool) was a musician with The Merseybeats until 1966, when he left to join a duo called The Merseys. He recorded a song called "Sorrow" (also covered by David Bowie on his 1973 cover album, Pinups) with the band before embarking on a solo career, where he recorded "Bye Bye Baby". This song is not to be confused with a Four Seasons track of a similar title, as this was an original back to the roots raw Merseybeat tune.[1] Kinsley, along with Tony Crane, should be remembered as founder members of the phenomenon that was Merseybeat. Kinsley later formed Liverpool Express in the early 1970s, and again experienced chart success with "You Are My Love", mentioned by Paul McCartney as one of his favourite love songs, "Everyman Must Have A Dream", "Dreamin" and "Smile".
To conclude, while Waylon Jennings and others such as The Cowboy Junkies and more recently Alison Krauss have recorded the song, if you want the original tonal quality from the film you want to track down Bill Kinsley perhaps in the the Mersey region or the original soundtrack.
Best regards & Livestrong

Dreaming My Dreams With You Update
Okay, sorry about this but I did a little more research (@ allmusic.com) and found I was incorrect on the composer. Apparently the composer is Allen Reynolds..."Allen Reynolds (August 18, 1938 – ?) is a record producer and songwriter. Reynolds was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas and started writing songs during his college years. He and a friend, Dickey Lee, continued writing after college and soon moved into production and publishing with their own company. Reynolds is probably best know for producing many albums by Garth Brooks, all of which have sold in the millions of copies world-wide." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Reynolds)
