QuestionAs you may know my grandaughter is learning guitar, now she has been given a strap with her name on it, but the guitar doesn't have the little knob on the body. I know you can but them but will it affect the sound of an acoustic guitar if you screw on in?

Providing the Strap nut is fiitted one of the correct places then you wont have a problem.

right next question does the base where it is screwed into have to have a thick bottom if you know what I mean or maybe a small block of wood as a strenthener inside?

Does it have a strap nut at the end of the guitars body (past the bridge)
Like this here
If so then most acoutics you us a shoe/boot lace and tie it through the other end of the strap and then round the headstock just under the strings at the top of the neck (above the nut) like so:
This is the easiest way to do it and means you dont have to make holes in the guitar.
Hope it helps.

Ok, you will need to drill the hole and it would probably be better to put a small block of wood inside just to strenghten it (no more than a couple of cm's squared) and screew into that. Also drill into the small block to so it wont split when you put the screw in.
