New weekender proposal - your views

Me and a friend are currently drawing up plans to hold a weekend fund raising round up at a quite countryside location near Selby, North Yorkshire.
Here's the proposal...

Venue : Selby district Motor Club - Breighton, nr Selby
Capacity : 60 people, seated
Caravan space : 25 vans
Date : Fri 5th sept, Sat 6th sept - go home Sun 7th sept
Price : £15 for the weekend (includes caravan parking)
Charities to benefit : Yorks.Air Ambulance & Calder Air Rescue

Entertainment
On Friday night we would have a solo artist (ie: Jonny Williams/Middi etc) and Wrangler as the house band.
On saturday night we would have a different solo artist or duo and Wrangler as the house band.

Bar
The club house has a bar area that will be set up for Lager and bitter  - probably £2 a pint but hopefully a bit less if we can get the barrels a bit cheaper. Also would have Optics available too. Also, because of the location a policy will be in place for the opening/closing time of the bar. Basically, if your still drinking - we're still serving.

Caravans
Room for 25 caravans, side by side. Unfortunatly theres no leccy hook up. access is down a firm gravel track.

Food
We will build a huge B-B-Q and we'd serve Burgers/sausage/steak from 9pm till it goes out or we run out. Probably priced at £1

Clubhouse
The clubhouse will be done out as a saloon for this weekend. Oak beams are already in place and the place has a rustic feel to it already. Gents toilets are basic, ladies are also basic (only one cubicle in ladies), but would most ladies use their own caravan toilets anyway??
There is a kitchen but we're hoping to just have the BBQ going for this year.
The venue backs onto Breighton airfield and is lovely and peaceful.

Future...
If this event goes well and people like the venue we dont see why we couldnt run it again next year. There is the option to extend this clubhouse too which we looked at last night, to seat maybe 100.

In a nut shell...
This place is rustic but comfortable. Small this year but extendable for next year.

I would appreciate anyones opinions, help, views or input for this idea. At the moment it's just an idea... making it happen is down to us all.

Please comment on anything... prices? location? anything you think.
Judy

Cheap isnt it count me and Ross in if the dates are ok
Jomal

Sounds like an excellent idea to me       shame we won't be able to make it,  but i am sure you will have no difficulty filling the place up
Judy

How about day time activities ie axe/knife throwing and shootouts, folks wont get bored through the day then
Twang Man

yep, we've had clearence for shoot outs - fill ya boots
Judy

and the knife axe throwing do you have a target board
Snowdog

Sounds good to me, is it just caravan space or is thier room for tents
Twang Man

I think just caravans for this one. I'll let you know ...

axe throwing? what kind of board do you need
Judy

I've got one
tigger

Twang Man

do they need previous experience????
tigger

Judy

Choose the one behind the bar please
Judy

oh heres another sensible question will you and your mate be staying over night? folks will need someone to go to if they have a problem
Twang Man

yep both me and Tim will be staying over. Tim is the mechanical minded one - and technical stuff - see him.

tigger - I can see a couple of good reasons you should be behind that bar
tigger

grumpy

put me down lee
Judy

I would love to put you down     see ya tomorrow
Twang Man

ok Grumps - just trying to get a feel for the kind of response at the moment. As you know, these things dont get sorted out easy.
grumpy

good luck with it lee if you need a hand with owt give us a shout
tigger

if ya decide before sunday you could put flyers out at Towerfest - but of course official announcement on here first so we can get our names down
Twang Man

i dont think this will take much selling out with only enough room for 25 caravans/60 people in club.

I would rather you lot be there anyway than a load of 'strangers'. I want this to be like a round up weekend with everybody who knows everyone.

Cut the grass at the weekend - looks a lot bigger now lol
Jomal

Sounds like fun, i really wish we could come too
tigger

Thats what I thought, just wanted to clarify it for everyone
Twang Man

it's our van mechanic Tim thats in on this with me. He works behind the scenes for the band and some of the stuff he sorts out 'behind the scenes' is unbelievable - he even bought a transit so we have a spare van!!!!!!!

£15 per person we thought, with it been a charity but I dunno? is that too steep?
tigger

no it ain't too steep - well I don't think it is

for anyone thats interested - the location of this club house overlooks Breighton airfield. Breighton airfield has 1x spitfire, 1x hurracaine and a messhershmitt airplane - all in full working order. They have said that they will do a fly past for anyone who wants to see these machines take off - circle- and land. how cool is that?
Judy

As Stan Boardman said "They bombed our chippy"

or do you have a tax office in mind?
