My Niece is a Good Singer (but only 16).... ****UPDATE*****My niece wants to sing and is pretty darn good at it. She has had lead parts in her School musicals and recently has done some recording in Nashville. She has just set up a youtube section with some videos of parts she has done. I think she is pretty talented and has a super voice, especially for her age, but then again, I can't carry a tune if my life depended on it. Well, and I am her Uncle, so I suppose I am a little bias. She has a myspace too - http://www.myspace.com/reneespencermusic with some clips from her CD.If you can leave some words of encouragement, that would be amazing and appreciated! If anyone has experience and can share with me ideas, I would love to help her out. I had dreams when I was a kid. Obviously, they didn't involve singing, but any way I can help her, is all good. I have no idea how to advise you as I am not in the music business, but she certainly has a good voice and should be encouraged, maybe she could try Americas got talent

only problem with those types of shows......they look for sensationalism.....the kid whose dad is in jail, or the kid has left home and lives out of their car. Sad, but that's what entertains people these days

well we are in the US, but I was majorly surprised to find more country forums in the UK than here in the US (which I guess I never realized country music was big there as well) |

Had you have been in the UK there are folks who would have given her a chance even if it was only for an hour. This would help her gain confidence and become better know | ||

She's got a lovely voice.
Don't knock "America's Got Talent." She should try -- even if she doesn't get on the show, you never know who will hear her. It's all about exposure! Use the internet, Facebook etc. I see she's on myspace, that's good. (I've just sent her a friend request.) But hey, if she's already recorded in Nashville I'd say she's on her way! She should use every opportunity, no matter how small, to be heard. Just tell her not to give up -- success doesn't happen overnight but I know if she keeps on believing in her dream, she'll get there.

Very cool that this weekend she goes back to Nashville to sing in front of 6 or 7 record labels - even just the experience is a good thing.
Very cool she now has her own website and a totally cool looking myspace site. A little upset that I paid $10 for a CD and they are Free and Shipping on her sites, in the USA? Ok so yeah I could have gotten it for free, but you know - had to support the cause.
