Small 5watt Kay thing that I learned on about 30 years ago. Played everything on 10 (still do !!) and the speaker cone gave way after two years of incessant abuse ! Particularly when trying to get it loud enough to cover a drummer !!!!!
Yamaha 15 Watt practice Amp - still got it, great sound but only used in the bedroom (yes, I know, it's a bit kinky but it makes her smile !!) after the lesson learned from the Kay amp.
Joined a Pub Rock band.... MARSHALL !! Got into using Rack stuff - had a Digitech GFX-1 (I think) which was a valve-driven preamp (2 - 12AX7 valves) plus FX which you changed through a midi floorboard, that ran through a Marshall 160Watt stereo power amp, pushed out through 2 MArshall 2*12 cabs (one each side of the drummer. Good and Loud !!! Had that for many happy years until I got fed up with lugging three heavy boxes around when one would do.
Discovered this 'amp-modelling' stuff and bout a Line6 FlextoneIII XL - absolutely superb amp - does everything you could ever want. Played that for a few years before joining Settlers, used and abused it on teh road with Settlers and recently sold it back to them !!
so now I'm back to the Yamaha, oh, and a Johnson J-Station for PC recording, but hoping to upgrade to a Line6 POD XT soon.
GUITARS.
Started with good ol' Kay - one of their Acoustics. Had that for about a year when I first started - MASSIVE action on it, I think I lost more blood learning to play that than I've ever done through being a blood donor !
Replaced with a Kay Electric (you'd think I'd have learnt by now)...the one with the on/off switches for the pickups, responsible for the early death of the Kay Practice Amp..... Hated this guitar...
When I was 17 - bought a Westone Thunder 1 (remember them) - first 'proper' guitar. Great to play. Resprayed it from it's boring wood colour to pearlesent white (very 80's !)...Still got this - in the loft in a case, needs a fret polish but it'll work just fine I reckon.
Few years later, browsing round the Music shops locally came across a new Jap Strat - Lake Placid Blue, Maple Neck....fell in love, played it back-to-back with American Fender (Clapton Strat) and still preferred the feel of the Jap one - so I bought it - that was 20 years ago and it's still played every day (although it stopped being a stage guitar 3 or 4 years ago). In fact, it's propped up against the desk next to me as I write this - Mans Best Friend !! If the house burned down I would go back in for this..that's how much I like it.
Moved into Acoustic stuff 8 years ago and bought a Yamaha APX-6. Not the best in the world but a nice, slim body menat it was perfect for me style of playing, i.e. beating the sh!t out of it. A few gentle strokes of teh local Guitar-makers woodworking tools and the action was nicely lowered. This was my main guitar with Settlers.
Oh forgot - I had an Applause bowl-back acoustic for a while. That was good but it clashed with my bowl-front so wasn't really an option for playing live. I sold it to Terry - guitarDuncs dad.
My wife (god bless Her) spotted me drooling over a guitar in a music shop a few years back when it was close to my birthday. guess what - she went back and bought me the guitar. It was a Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite - this was made in 1994 and they didn't make too many of them. I've never seen another like it, it has two humbuckers and a single coil pickup and a 5 way switch with a coil-tap. Really unusual guitar, not as nice to play as the Strat tho - but I'm keeping it just cos it's so unusual..This one HAS been played on stage but not with Settlers.
Next I got a stonking deal from Terry (remember him from earlier) for a telecaster with an Esquire neck. Beatiful thing. that's been out with Settlers a couple of times too.
When settlers decided to play Peaceful, Easy feeling we decided we needed a 12-string acoustic - enter stage right a Yamaha FG720-12. I bought this with no electric and had some fitted. The elctrics had a piezo under-bridge pickup, a standard pickup across the sound hole, and a condensor mic inside the sound hole, all could be mixed. Top guitar, just takes ages to tune !!
A mandolin arrived from Ebay - cheap and cheerful but I love it, again a bit of fixing from 'The Man' and it was a mainstay of the Settlers Shows.
Finally......... I fell in love with Duncs new guitar and had to have one so I went out and got myself a Fender American deluxe Lite Ash Strat.....What can I say - it's sex with strings !!!!!

hmm ,a Westone Thunder 1, they made good basses as well, they are getting quite sort after now and prices are increasing there is a good site on them at http://www.westone.info/
pity you resprayed it might affect future value, dont matter if you are keeping it though.APX yamaha,s make great stage guitars i like them.
i saw a guy on holiday with a line six variaxe seemed quite versatile.there seems to be more and more modeling type things about, a glimpse of the future maybe ?.but i think big rigs are a thing of the past now, let the pa do the work, look good on stage though! _________________ www.myspace.com/eddie_bass
They look really good but, for live work, are very battery hungry. I beleive you can attach a power lead to it but that doesn't work if you use wireless stuff...
They're great for Recording tho...... For folks on a limited budget they save fortunes _________________ Neil

Yes,Bowl backs and big bellys dont mix well, infact when it gets to a certain size no guitar sits right, they should market a guitar with an ajustable belly insert _________________ www.myspace.com/eddie_bass
